I'm confused between B.Tech CSE and B.Sc Computer Science. Which is better for a software career?
Both can lead to a strong software career. The difference is depth, duration, cost and how employers filter. - Duration: B.Tech CSE 4 years; B.Sc Computer Science 3 years (4 with honours) - Admission: B.Tech CSE JEE Main / state CETs / private exams; B.Sc Computer Science Class 12 marks, CUET-UG, university exams - Focus: B.Tech CSE Engineering maths, systems, hardware basics, CS core; B.Sc Computer Science CS theory and programming, more maths/science electives - Cost: B.Tech CSE Higher, especially private; B.Sc Computer Science Usually lower - Campus hiring: B.Tech CSE Wider, many companies hire B.Tech directly; B.Sc Computer Science Fewer campus drives, more off-campus hiring Choose B.Tech if you can get into a good college with a solid CS department and placements, or you want core/embedded/PSU roles. Choose B.Sc if you prefer a shorter, cheaper degree, love maths and theory, or plan to do an M.Sc/MCA or master's abroad. What evens the field: projects, internships, open-source contributions and competitive programming. Many B.Sc graduates out-earn B.Tech graduates because they built more. A practical rule: a strong B.Sc at a top university often beats a B.Tech from a weak college with poor placements.
