Agnipath (Agniveer) scheme: should I join after 12th?
I'm thinking of joining as an Agniveer. Is it a good option after 12th, and what happens after four years?

The Agnipath scheme recruits young people as Agniveers into the Army, Navy and Air Force for a four-year engagement. Here's what to weigh. Basics (check the official recruitment sites of each force) - Age range is roughly 17.5 to 21 (relaxations have been announced in some years). - Education ranges from Class 10 to Class 12 depending on the role (technical roles need science subjects). - Selection includes a written exam (online common entrance exam for the Army), physical fitness tests and medicals. What you get - Four years of service with salary and allowances. - At the end, a Seva Nidhi package (a lump sum built from your contribution plus a matching government contribution). - Up to a set percentage of each batch can be selected for permanent regular service based on merit and need. - Skills, discipline, fitness and a service certificate. After four years - Many central and state governments have announced reservations or age relaxations for ex-Agniveers in police, CAPFs and other jobs. Check the current announcements of your state. - You can continue studies; some degree programmes offer credit for service training. Things to think about - Only a share of Agniveers are retained permanently. - You'll be around 21–25 after service, so plan your next step early. - If you want a long-term officer career, look at NDA (after 12th) or CDS/AFCAT (after graduation). Who it suits: physically fit, disciplined young people who want service, structure and a strong start, with a plan for afterwards. Guidopia's Career DNA shows your fit for defence careers.
